Haydn: Symphony #104 – 4th Movement

Comment: I started my foray into classical music by listening to tons of Mozart; then I discovered Haydn.  That’s not to say that Haydn is better than Mozart or vice-versa; Haydn is “the father of the string quartet” and Mozart’s Opera’s are without equal.  But you’d be missing out on a tremendous wealth of music by not paying close attention to Haydn.  Here I introduce you to one of my favorite of Haydn’s symphonies (of which there are many) with the 4th movement of Symphony #104 in D major, “The London”. The YouTube video below is a little fast for my taste, but for a work of this excellence, it doesn’t matter!
