Wagner: Parsifal – Verwandlungsmusik (Transformation Music)
Comment: Parsifal is a long opera, but is rich with marvelous music — if you have the patience. It’s rich that Wagner wrote an opera about religion, purity and redemption considering his biographer’s records of Wagner’s indiscretions. That being said, Parsifal contains some of the most moving music I’ve ever heard. The overture is magnificent, and the music at the end of the first act can at times seem to reach out to you. Start the video below, close your eyes, and listen. The recording I’ve listed below is the preeminent recording of Parsifal.
